This years’s World Tourism Day celebrations will be held in Kwekwe on the 7th of October under the theme “Tourism for all- Promoting Universal accessibility”.
The theme prioritises accessible tourism for people with disabilities, young children, the elderly and pregnant women.
Anastacia Ndlovu, the Tourism and Hospitality Industry deputy minister said she was in full support of this years theme which allows disabled people to take part in tourism activities without discrimination.
“As a ministry, we have discovered that the road networks are poor and the infrastructure is not favorable for the people with disabilities, including infants and the elderly. Any responsible and sustainable tourism policy should offer accessibility for all to tourist facilities, products, and services”, Ndovu said.
The ministry chose Kwekwe as a way of diversifying and marketing other places since resorts towns like Victoria falls and Kariba are over marketed.
the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has invited Zimbabweans in all parts of the country, all Tourism stakeholders, all Tourism organisations, government officials to attend the belated World Tourism Day celebrations at the Golden Mile Hotel.
