All roads lead to Pakare Paye Arts Center in Norton tonight for the Sam Mtukudzi commemoration gala scheduled for 6pm till late.
The gig will see young inspirational musician and son to the legendary singer Willom Tight, Gary Tight perform Sam’s song cover versions and will also feature the Prince Edward jazz band, Sam Dondo, Pakare Paye Ensemble, Dream Star Zimbabwe and Soul Finders.
Show organisers promised a fun-filled memorable night with lots of surprises.
“We are promising massive display by all performances who are taking to stage tonight. Youth groups have come up in remebrence of their icon who untimely passed on, they are doing it for Sam and his father Oliver,” said the organizer.
Big names in the entertainment industry who are going to feature on tonight’s show are Sulumani Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso and the late’s father Oliver Mtukudzi.
Mtukudzi who is finding it hard to accept the death of his son took to social media and poured out a heartfelt message, “The best son ever. I thank God for Sam,”
Sam perished in a car crash together with his sound engineer, Owen Chimhare on March 15, 2010 when he was on his way to Norton from Harare.
He had survived to be the most talented musician who would have lived his father’s legacy, he left so much pain and its sad we celebrate a career and life that was suddenly taken away from all of us.
