Born in Harare 26 years ago Wanai, as she’s affectionately known in the music circles started singing at a tender age at Dudley Hall Primary School, she went on to graduate into Waddilove High School Choir for two years,
Blessed with a powerful voice ,She has released three singles since entering the music scene in 2008,namely ‘NDINODA IWE’ recording at Track Records ,’MUDIWA NDINOKUDA’ a collaboration with Shinsoman recorded in 2011, ‘WATORA MOYO WANGU’ in 2012.
She has tasted the world of Urban grooves and finally she feels at home in a genre were she touches people’s lives and changing the world .With the help of her Producer Spencer Masango of Track Records and The Willis Wataffi Mentorship Programme , it was smooth sailin for Wanai to re-brand herself to Jazz and Afro –pop were unlike other genres it doesn’t phase out quickly and it is the music for the mature audience. Wanai has attended a lot of musical workshops around Harare most notably at BOOK CAFE where she frequently performs at the Sister’s Open Mic Show.
Her confidence grew in the music industry when she was part of The Sounds of the Motherland fronted by renowned guitarist and vocalist Progress Chipfumo touring across Zimbabwe as a dancer and backing vocalist. She also expressed her vocal abilities on Chipfumo’s latest album named ‘HOLD MY HAND’. Wanai recently launched her debut album ‘BOOK OF LOVE’ recorded at TRACK RECORDS. The album is a Jazz Contemporary and Afro Pop album which explores her versatility. The 7 track album has been doing well on the music scene and so far she has had good crowds attending her shows
